Frequently asked questions.

1. The 6-Lesson Unit Model

Why do you offer fixed 6-lesson packages instead of weekly ongoing tutoring?

Traditional tutoring is often indefinite and unstructured, dragging on for months without clear targets. When a school teacher identifies a challenging topic, students do not need endless revision; they need focused remediation. Our 6-lesson packages provide a structured roadmap with defined checkpoints, mid-week active recall, and a final diagnostic assessment to ensure verified topic mastery.

What happens after the 6 lessons are completed?

Once a unit is finished, parents receive a final mastery report via Proftor. You can choose to conclude support if the academic gap is closed, or immediately book the next logical syllabus unit or an exam-prep package based on ongoing teacher feedback.

2. Curriculum & School Coordination

How do you coordinate with my child's school curriculum?

Our unit packages are built around official curriculum specifications. When you request a unit, you can include feedback from your child's school teacher. We align our 6 sessions with their exact school scheme of work, textbook chapters, and upcoming assessment schedule.

My child's school uses Pearson Edexcel, AQA, or UK A-Levels instead of Cambridge/IB. Can you support them?

Yes. While our published catalog features Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma structures, our tutors are experienced across all major UK and international boards, including Pearson Edexcel, AQA, OCR, and UK A-Levels. Simply note your examination board on the intake form, and we will load that exact specification into Proftor for your student's 6-lesson unit.

Which year groups and curricula do you support?

We specialize in:

  • Cambridge IGCSE / GCSE (Years 10-11): Mathematics (0580), Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, and History.
  • IB Diploma Programme (DP1 & DP2 / Years 12-13): Mathematics (AA & AI - SL/HL), Physics (SL/HL), Chemistry (SL/HL), Biology (SL/HL), Economics (SL/HL), and History (SL/HL).

3. The Proftor Technology Advantage

What is Proftor and how do parents use it?

Proftor is our educational tracking engine. Every enrolled family receives access to the live parent portal, where you can check attendance, view completed syllabus learning points, read tutor lesson notes, and track mastery progress in real time directly from your phone or browser.

How does the mid-week Active Recall feature work?

Retention drops rapidly if a student only engages with material once a week. Between sessions, Proftor pushes short, targeted retrieval questions to the student app. This locks key definitions, formulas, and concepts into long-term memory before the next lesson.

What happens if our tutor is ill or unavailable?

Because the full 6-lesson journey and student notes live inside Proftor, rather than in an individual tutor's head, another vetted specialist can step in seamlessly without missing a beat. You never lose momentum or have to re-explain what was taught.

4. Lesson Delivery & Logistics

Are lessons delivered in person or online?

We provide two delivery options:

  • Interactive Online: high-definition video with shared digital whiteboards, screen annotation, and session material saved directly to Proftor.
  • In-Person (Budapest): delivered at the student's home or central study locations across Budapest, subject to tutor availability.
How are session schedules arranged?

Most students take 1 lesson per week for 6 weeks, matching school half-terms. For urgent test preparation or mock sprints, we also offer intensive schedules of 2 lessons per week over 3 weeks.

5. Pricing, Invoicing & Legal

How much does a unit package cost?

Every standard 6-lesson unit package is 150,000 HUF all-inclusive. This covers 6 hours of 1-on-1 specialist instruction, Proftor student and parent portal access, active-recall assignments, and the substitution guarantee.

How does payment work?

Once your schedule and tutor are confirmed, Palota Private Tutoring Kft. issues an official electronic tax invoice through Szamlazz.hu. Packages are paid securely upfront via Hungarian domestic bank transfer or international transfer before the first lesson begins.

Is VAT charged on packages?

No. Palota Private Tutoring Kft. operates under the Hungarian alanyi adomentes (AAM) tax status, meaning the listed price of 150,000 HUF is the final price with 0% VAT.
